History

Gösta Forsslund was the first Oral- and Maxillofacial surgeon in Sweden in the early 1950’s. One of his ambitions was to spread his knowledge of performing operations with less patient risk using the most sterilizable tools at the time.

His son Hans Forsslund followed in Göstas footsteps, also  specializing in Oral- and Maxillofacial Surgery. As the municipal chief of dental care, Hans Forsslund took on the task of teaching dentist to perform non-advanced surgical procedures such as extraction of wisdom teeth.

When it was time for Hans’ son, Jonas Forsslund, to do his Masters thesis to become a Computer Science Engineer he chose to focus on a problem that Karolinska Institutet had: how to teach surgical extraction of wisdom teeth without patient risk in a simulator. Jonas developed a prototype of a simulator in collaboration with his father and received positive feedback from surgery teachers at Karolinska Institutet. In the spring 2008 Jonas and Hans Forsslund, together with the entrepreneur Holger Ronquist, went on to incorporate Forsslund Systems AB.

Forsslund Systems Board of Directors has since then expanded with an additional engineer and partner, Martin Flodin
